When the profession of pharmacy was evolved in India during the decade of 1960s, there was a demand for the well trained and qualified pharmacists, in order to fulfill the requirements of the then profession of pharmacy, a short and speedy course of pharmacy is called namely Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) was developed and offered to the students of pharmacy who have passed SSLC/Xth qualification. Later, in the decade of 1990s, the minimum qualification for D. Pharm admission was raised to 10+2/ intermediate/ SSSC.
